Fifth bass guitar

This instrument sounds a perfect fifth lower than a standard classical guitar, that is why it is called a fifth-bass guitar. The scale length is 72 cm and the body is much larger than usual.  This guitar is perfect for duo’s, trio’s or other (guitar)ensembles as well as for performing cello music which the Dutch guitarist Esther Steenbergen has done. A classical guitar is usually tuned E A d g b e’. The tuning of this fifth-bass guitar is A D G c e a.  The top of this guitar is made of German spruce, while the back and sides are made of Indian Rosewood.
