Huge volume. Easy to play. In contrast to many other makers I don’t use lattice bracing, tops reinforced with carbon-balsa or other modern design styles. In my opinion, the best-sounding instruments are made by using traditional construction.
The headstock is designed after the shape of my workshop building. In the rosette I use the motif found in the flag for the city of Amsterdam.
The shellac finish, using the traditional French polish method, adds a beautiful luster to the finished instrument.
Available with a top of Canadian cedar or German spruce. Back and sides are made of Indian or Brazilian rosewood. Spanish cypress is an option for a flamenco model.

Hi Troy, like I told you on facebook. Sorry to hear I missed you when you were in Amsterdam last winter. Next time give me a call, I live very close by my workshop. About the strings; at the moment I use Savarez New Cristal, high tension on my guitars. The trebles are very clear. What I used for a long time (and sometimes still do) is a combination of Augustine blue(high tension) basses with Hannabach 815 blue (high tension) trebles. These trebles have a warm round tone and the Augustine basses are very firm. Please give me your comment after trying. With best regards, Otto Vowinkel
Also Otto, a burning question for you..Which strings (brand, tensioin, type etc.) would you recommend for the 1999 G Spruce Top with Brazilian back and sides (Concert model)? I’ve liked the goldin and some saverez strings but the Augustine are just not cutting it. I feel the strings make a big difference on this instrument and sometimes I feel it’s only the strings that seem to somehow, either hold back or support the guitar.
Thanks in advance for any advice reply you might have about this matter.
Sincerely,
Troy Lennerd Nielsen.
Indeed! I own an original 1999 that you must have made personally Otto, I was in Europe with the guitar and one of my friends from Amsterdam took me to your shop with the guitar but you had closed for the day! Next time…I love the guitar and, like the previous comment, I wouldn’t sell it either, the sustain is wonderful on the instrument and it seems to be maturing quite well (although I live in a very arid area and this does pose chalenges for the guitar.)
Thanks again Otto, great, great work!
I own a 1997 concert model and absolutely love this guitar! Hope to get one made for me some day. This is one guitar that I will not sell.
Thank you very much for your kind words. I’m glad you like it!
